m-mister-mystere-album Mister Mystère, released in 2009, is the fourth studio album by French singer-songwriter Matthieu Chedid in his persona as -M- (or fifth if including the instrumental album, Labo M). It was his first studio album after a six year hiatus during which he had concentrated on live music along with side projects including collaborations with his father, Louis Chedid, Malian musicians Amadou & Mariam and French singer Vanessa Paradis (notably on the album Divinidylle). The reappearance of -M- in a more sombre 'black-and-white' persona without his former reliance on vivid colours (notably pink) and wild distinctive haircut caused considerable media attention. The music remained an idiosyncratic mix but was declared by critics to be 'innovative' with 'more sensual' lyrics that overall represented a 'successful metamorphosis' for the artist. However, other critics saw the project as falling flat and Telerama considered that only Délivre and L'élixir really broke the funky monotony of the work. Commercially successful in France Mister Mystère sold 51,000 copies in the first week of release, out-selling rival albums One Love by David Guetta and Volume 10 by Marc Lavoine. m-qui-de-nous-deux-album Qui de Nous Deux (2003) is an album by French singer-song-writer Matthieu Chedid in his persona as -M-. It is his third full studio album, or the fourth if including the instrumental work Labo M which he had released earlier the same year. The title of the album and its best known track means 'Which of Us Two' reflecting the ongoing contrast between Chedid's real persona and that of his invented character -M-. The album's liner notes explain that the love discussed in that song are for the pink guitar that features on both the album cover and the surreal music video that accompanied the song. The pink guitar had been specially created to celebrate the birth of Chedid's daughter Billie in 2002. Stylistically the music on this album remains as eclectic as in Chedid's earlier works, albeit with an overall softer edge. The album was a major hit in France, entering the French charts at number 1 and spending over 22 months in the French top 100. m-le-bapteme-album Le Baptême was the first studio album by French rock musician -M-. It was recorded in 1997 and issued in 1998. m-je-dis-aime-album Je dis aime (1999) is the second studio album by French singer-songwriter Matthieu Chedid, in his persona as -M-, described by reviewers as a "conceptual icon to rival Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane". The album manages to take a remarkable variety of musical directions and pull them together into a consistent whole. Another reviewer describes the album as sounding like a 'French Lenny Kravitz' and notes the 'vintage 70s sound and textures'. Je dis aime is a play on words in French as 'aime' (love) is pronounced exactly the same as '-M-'.
